PTC Film | Self-Regulating Technology | Fire-Safe

PTC self-regulating electric underfloor heating film -- fire-safe, no external thermostat required.

PTC Film uses the Positive Temperature Coefficient effect to actively manage its own heat output -- no external thermostat required to prevent overheating.

When localised temperature rises, resistance in the carbon layer increases automatically -- reducing current flow, suppressing excess heat, and eliminating the overheating risk that conventional heating films cannot self-correct. The result: up to 30% lower energy consumption compared to standard resistive films at equivalent output.

  • 30% Energy savings
  • Auto Self-regulating
  • 0 Overheating risk

TECHNOLOGY

Unlike conventional heating films that require external sensors and controls to manage temperature, PTC Film's safety is built into the material itself. The carbon layer's resistance rises in direct proportion to temperature -- making overheating a physical impossibility under normal operating conditions, not a matter of control system reliability.

HEATVIS PTC Film: structurally overheating-proof underfloor heating at the material level. Temperature rise -> resistance increase -> current reduction -> fire-safe operation.

Why PTC technology changes the safety equation

  • Structural fire prevention

Conventional heating films rely on external controls to prevent overheating. PTC Film eliminates the risk at the material level, delivering fire-safe electric underfloor heating by design -- resistance rises automatically as temperature increases, cutting current before dangerous heat can build.

  • Up to 30% energy savings

Because the film self-regulates output to match actual thermal demand, it avoids the energy waste of fixed-resistance films running at constant load. Independent testing shows up to 30% reduction in energy consumption versus conventional resistive alternatives.

  • No external thermostat required

PTC Film manages its own temperature response intrinsically. While external controls can still be added for comfort preferences, the film does not depend on them to stay within safe operating limits -- reducing both installation complexity and points of failure.

  • Same installation as standard films

Advanced technology without added complexity. PTC Film installs using the same method as HEATVIS Stripe Film -- familiar to any trained installer -- with no specialist equipment or modified subfloor preparation required.

PTC carbon layer -- safety engineered at the material level

The PTC carbon heating element is the core of this film's self-regulating behaviour. Silver electrodes are applied after carbon printing -- a sequencing specifically engineered to prevent spark formation at the electrode junction. The outer PET film provides insulation and mechanical protection, completing a construction that prioritises safety at every layer.

“Silver electrodes are applied after carbon printing -- not before. This sequencing is what prevents spark formation at the junction,
removing one of the most common failure points in conventional heating film construction.”
